ON AUGUST 20, 1999 PIC BRUCE ELKIND OPERATED EXPERIMENTAL AIRCRAFT N795DB WITH 2 PASSENGERS FROM HAWTHORNE, CA TO CAMARILLO, CA AND BACK TO HAWTHORNE, CA. AT APPROX. 1623, THE AIRCRAFT LANDED AT HAWTHORNE, CA (HHR). AFTER LANDING, THE AIRCRAFT ROLLED FOR APPROXIMATELY 200 FEET WHEN THE NOSE LANDING GEAR COLLAPSED. INITIAL INSPECTION REVEALED MINOR DAMAGE TO THE UNDERSIDE OF THE NOSE SECTION OF THE AIRCRAFT. NO PERSONAL INJURIES WERE REPORTED. DURING PRELIMINARY INVESTIGATION, MR. HE STATED THAT THE GEAR LIGHTS WERE EXTINGUISHED AFTER GEAR EXTENSION AND THAT NOSE GEAR EXTENSION WAS VERIFIED VISUALLY THROUGH THE INSPECTION PORT LOCATED IN THE FLOOR OF THE COCKPIT. HE REPORTED NOTHING UNUSUAL ABOUT THE APPROACH OR ACTUAL LANDING. A SUBSEQUENT INSPECTION REVEALED DAMAGE AND EXCESS WEAR TO THE NOSE GEAR CRANK AND WORM GEAR ASSEMBLY. THE BOLT THAT SUPPORTS THE LARGE GEAR WAS BENT AND THE PIVOT ASSEMBLY EXHIBITED EXCESS WEAR AND LOOSENESS. THE CAUSE OF THIS INCIDENT COULD NOT BE ACCURATELY DETERMINED. ^PRIVACY ^ ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^

Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
