## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) WHILE TAKING OFF FROM LAKE TIBET, AIRMAN PERFORMED PREMATURE TAKEOFF TO AVOID COLLISION WITH PERSONAL WATERCRAFT. A/C STALLED AND STRUCK THE WATER LEFT WING LOW. LEFT WING SPAR AND BOAT HULL BROKEN. NO INJURIES. (.4)THE PILOT SET UP FOR LANDING INTO THE WIND ON A LAKE, AND OBSERVED A JET SKI ABOUT 1/4 MILE FROM HIS INTENDED LANDING SITE. AFTER A COMPLETE STOP LANDING, HE SAW THE JET SKI APPROACHING FROM HIS LEFT 'VERY RAPIDLY.' HE APPLIED POWER FOR TAKEOFF, AND SAW THAT THE JET SKI WAS ABOUT 40 YARDS FROM THE AIRPLANE. HE ROTATED, BANKED LEFT, AND THE AIRPLANE STALLED. HE REDUCED POWER, AND ATTEMPTED TO REGAIN DIRECTIONAL CONTROL WITH AILERONS, THE CONTROLS WERE UNRESPONSIVE. THE LEFT WING STRUCK THE SURFACE OF THE WATER.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB MIA99LA237](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/MIA99LA237), Aug 25, 1999: Dinkel-Brook SEA REY (N1168D), Orlando, FL, substantial damage. Probable cause: the pilot's failure to maintain control of the airplane resulting in an inadvertent stall at too low an altitude to recover.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
