## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) INVESTIGATION REVEALED PILOT MISINTERPRETED WIND DIRECTION ON FINAL APPROACH TO PALM BEACH INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT, AFTER RECEIVING THE ACTUAL WIND DIRECTION AND CLEARANCE TO LAND ON RUNWAY 27R FROM FLIGHT APPROACH. PILOT ALLOWED AIRCRAFT TO DRIVE OFF THE RUNWAY, OVER THE GRASS. PILOT APPLIED POWER TO ATTEMPT A GO-AROUND BUT HIT AN ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT BOX LOCATED IN THE GRASSY STRIP BETWEEN RUNWAY 27L AND THE ADJACENT TAXIWAY. THE PILOT THEN CUT POWER AND APPLIED THE BRAKES. THE AIRCRAFT CAME TO REST APPROXIMATELY 100-150 FEET PAST THE ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT BOX.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
