## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) ON 9/12/99, AT APPROX. 5:30 PM, THE PILOT DEPARTED LEMAIRE AIRPORT, JENERETTE, LA WITH 4 SKYDIVERS ONBOARD. WHEN THEY REACHED AN ALTITUDE OF APPROX. 1500 FEET AGL., GROUND PERSONNEL NOTICED THAT A HIGH GUSTY WIND HAD MOVED INTO THE AREA. THE PILOT WAS ADVISED BY RADIO TO ABORT THE JUMP AND RETURN TO THE AIRPORT. ON LANDING, THE PILOT EXPERIENCED AN APPROX. 25 MPH CROSSWIND, CAUSING HIM TO INCREASE AIRSPEED AND LEAVE THE FLAPS UP. HE WAS UNABLE TO GET THE A/C ON THE GROUND AND THEREFORE WAS UNABLE TO GET ANY BREAKING ACTION. HE RAN OFF THE END OF RUNWAY 21 ENDING UP IN A DITCH COMPLAINING OF A SORE BACK. HE WAS RELEASED FROM THE HOSPITAL LATER THAT EVENING. NOTE: WAITING ON OWNER TO PROVIDE A/C TIMES.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB FTW99LA259](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/FTW99LA259), Sep 12, 1999: Cessna 182J (N2751F), Jeanerette, LA, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's failure to attain the proper touchdown point resulting in the aircraft overrunning the runway on landing roll. A factor was the gusty crosswind condition.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
