## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(.4) THE PILOT MADE AN APPROACH AND LANDING TO A 4,094 FEET LONG BY 80 FEET WIDE, ASPHALT RUNWAY. DURING THE LANDING ROLL, THE PILOT APPLIED LIGHT BRAKING TO SLOW FOR AN UPCOMING TAXIWAY. WHILE BRAKING, THE AIRCRAFT DRIFTED LEFT OF THE RUNWAY CENTERLINE. THE PILOT THEN APPLIED RIGHT RUDDER AND RIGHT BRAKE WHICH, THE PILOT BELIEVED TO BE INEFFECTIVE. THE AIRCRAFT VEERED OFF THE RUNWAY AND COLLIDED WITH A TAXIWAY MARKER, RESULTING IN THE COLLAPSE OF THE LEFT MAIN GEAR AND SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE TO THE FUSELAGE. A POST-ACCIDENT EXAMINATION OF THE BRAKING SYSTEM REVEALED NO MALFUNCTION OR FAILURE.(-23) ON THE APPROACH TO LANDING FOR RUNWAY 20 THE PILOT WAS HIGH. THE APPROACH WAS CONTINUED AND THE AIRCRAFT TOUCHED DOWN WELL PAST THE HALFWAY POINT OF THE RUNWAY. INSPECTION OF THE RUNWAY REVEALED THAT BOTH MAIN WHEELS HAD HEAVY BRAKING APPLIED AS EVIDENCED BY DISTINCT TIRE SKID MARKS. THE AIRCRAFT VEERED TO THE LEFT AND WENT OFF THE RUNWAY STRIKING A TAXI LIGHT AND TAXI WAY SIGN. THE IMPACT WITH THE CONCRETE BASE FOR THE SIGN CAUSED SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE TO THE LANDING GEAR AND AIRCRAFT.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB SEA99LA162](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/SEA99LA162), Sep 15, 1999: Stinson 108-2 (N9358K), Burley, ID, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's failure to maintain directional control during the landing roll. Factors include a taxiway marking sign located adjacent to the runway.

## Other reports on N9358K (1)

Matched to the same aircraft by N-number and date.

- [Incident 19941018039509I](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19941018039509I), Oct 18, 1994: Univar 1082 (N9358K), Silver City, NM, Minor damage. Lost control landing in gusty crosswind. Ground looped. Crosswind component limit a factor.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
