## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) ON FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 17, 1999 AT 1945 EDT, A BEECHCRAFT 1900D, N46YV, OPERATED BY MESA AIRLINES, INC., DURING LANDING PHASE AT JAMESTOWN AIRPORT, JAMESTOWN, NEW YORK, EXPERIENCED A LEFT WING BIRD STRIKE. THE FLIGHTCREW ACCOMPLISHED A LANDING WITHOUT INCIDENT ON RUNWAY 7. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE BIRD STRIKE RUPTURED THE LEFT WING FUEL TANK. A SITE INVESTIGATION CONFIRMED THE LEFT WING RUPTURED FUEL TANK. AFTER LANDING, THE AIRCRAFT WAS TOWED TO THE HANGAR FOR REPAIRS. THE MECHANICS REPAIRED THE DAMAGED SKIN TO THE LEFT WING LEADING EDGE BY SPLICING IN A NEW SKIN SECTION. THE INSPECTION WAS SATISFACTORY AND THE AIRCRAFT RETURNED TO SERVICE.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
