## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) DURING INTIAL CLIMB THROUGH 1000 FEET, CREW EXPERIENCED AN "ACRID" SMOKE THAT FILLED THE COCKPIT. THIS WAS FOLLOWED IMMEDIATELY BY THE CARGO FIRE WARNING. THE CREW DONED OXYGEN MASK AND GOGGLES. THE FIRE SWITCH WAS PUSHED AND THE CARGO FIRE CHECKLIST ACCOMPLISHED. A SHORT DOWNWIND VFR PATTERN WAS FLOWN TO A VFR/ILS LANDING. THE CAPTAIN INITIATED CREW EVAUATED OF THE AIRCRAFT UPON CLEARING THE RUNWAY. COCKPIT SLIDING WINDOWS WERE USED TO EGRESS THE AIRCRAFT. ALL COMPONENTS OPERATED NORMALLY. CAPT. BUMPED SIDE OF AIRCRAFT DURING EGRESS BUT WAS NOT INJURED. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT ASSUMED CONTROL OF THE AIRCRAFT. AFTER MAINTENANCE TROUBLESHOOTING, IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE NUMBER 2 ENGINE, NUMBERS 2 AND/OR 3 ENGINE BEARING LEAKED OIL INTO THE 10TH STAGE BLEED CAUSING FUMES TO BE INTRODUCED INTO THE COCKPIT. NO. 2 ENGINE CHANGE IN PROGRESS.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
