## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) ON THE AFTERNOON OF SEPT. 23, 1999, CESSNA N60400, SERIAL NUMBER 15070282, WAS ON APPROACH TO THE GALVESTON SCHOLS FIELD AIRPORT. THE AIRCRAFT LOST POWER AND MADE AN EMERGENCY LANDING ON A NEARBY ROADWAY. POST INSPECTION REVEALED THAT THE NUT WHICH HOLDS THE THROTTLE CABLE ASSEMBLY TO THE CARBURETOR WAS MISSING. THIS ALLOWED THE THROTTLE CABLE TO BECOME DISCONNECTED FROM THE CARBURETOR THUS ALLOWING NO CONTROL OVER ENGINE POWER. THE AIRCRAFT HAD RECEIVED AN ANNUAL INSPECTION APPROX. 6.0 FLIGHT HOURS PRIOR TO THE INCIDENT. THE AIRCRAFT WAS NOT PROPERLY APPROVED FOR RETURN TO SERVICE FOLLOWING THE ANNUAL INSPECTION.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
