## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) ON A FLIGHT FROM ORLANDO, FL. TO PEACHTREE DEKALB AIRPORT IN ATLANTA, GA, PILOT MISCALCULATED FUEL BURN, RAN OUT OF FUEL OVER COVINGTON, GA, AND LANDED IN A COW PASTURE. PILOT PURCHASED FUEL FROM A LOCAL AIRPORT, REFUELED THE AIRCRAFT, AND ATTEMPTED TO TAKE OFF IN THE COW PASTURE. APPROXIMATELY 700 FEET DOWN THE TAKEOFF ROLL, PILOT ABORTED THE TAKEOFF. AT THIS POINT PILOT LOST CONTROL OF THE AIRCRAFT, THE AIRCRAFT STRUCK A TREE SHEARING OFF THE RIGHT WING. THE AIRCRAFT CAME TO REST ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE FUSELAGE. PILOT WAS NOT INJURED.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB MIA99LA264](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/MIA99LA264), Sep 23, 1999: Piper PA-28-161 (N4300S), Covington, GA, substantial damage. Probable cause: the pilot's decision to take off from unsuitable terrain, which resulted in a collision with trees.

## Other reports on N4300S (1)

Matched to the same aircraft by N-number and date.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong.
