## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) MR. MICHAEL D. HUTSON AND PASSENGER CAROL MEYERS DEPARTED CHINO AIRPORT, CHINO, CA, AT 6:00 PM IN ROUTE TO HAVASU, AZ. FORTY MINUTES INTO THE FLIGHT OVER AMBOY, CA, AT 9500 MSL, THE ENGINE QUIT. MR. HUTSON LANDED ON HIGHWAY 62 WITHOUT INCIDENT. THE AIRCRAFT WAS TOWED 20 MILES TO TWENTY-NINE PALMS AIRPORT. FURTHER INVESTIGATION REVEALED THAT THE BENDIX MAGNETO, PART #BL-68256013 HAD FAILED. MR. MICHAEL D. HUTSON AND PASSENGER CAROL MEYERS WERE THE SOLE OCCUPANTS AND WERE NOT INJURED.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
