## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THE PILOT STATED THAT THE AIRCRAFT ENGINE FAILED SHORTLY AFTER LIFT-OFF FROM RUNWAY 27 AT LEWIS-LOCKPORT (LOT). THE PILOT TURNED THE AIRCRAFT INTO THE WIND AND MADE A POWER OFF EMERGENCY LANDING IN A FARM FIELD. SUBSEQUENT INVESTIGATION REVEALED THAT THE PILOT HAD THE FUEL SELECTOR POSITIONED TO THE FUSELAGE (HEADER) TANK. THERE WAS NO FUEL FOUND IN THE SELECTOR TANK. THE ENGINE WAS STARTED AND RAN NORMALLY AFTER THE FUEL SELECTOR WAS REPOSITIONED TO A FULL FUEL TANK.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
