## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(.4) THE PRIVATE PILOT AND FLIGHT INSTRUCTOR WERE PERFORMING NIGHT TOUCH AND GO LANDINGS. FIVE LANDINGS WERE EXECUTED WITHOUT INCIDENT AND THE PRIVATE PILOT REQUESTED TO PERFORM A SHORT FIELD LANDING FOR THEIR SIXTH LANDING. DURING THE LANDING, THE AIRPLANE TOUCHED DOWN HARD ON THE RIGHT MAIN GEAR. EXAMINATION OF THE AIRPLANE REVEALED RIGHT WING SPAR, STRUT, AND SKIN DAMAGE. NEITHER PILOT REPORTED ANY MECHANICAL DEFICIENCIES WITH THE AIRPLANE. (-23) WHILE STUDENT PILOT WAS PERFORMING NIGHT TOUCH AND GO LANDINGS AT COLUMBUS AIRPORT, HE INCURRED A HARD LANDING ON THE RIGHT GEAR.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ATL00LA008](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ATL00LA008), Oct 23, 1999: Cessna 310R (N7571Q), Columbus, GA, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's improper flare that resulted in a hard landing.

## Other reports on N7571Q (1)

Matched to the same aircraft by N-number and date.

- [Incident 19910805039599I](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19910805039599I), Aug 5, 1991: Cessna 310R (N7571Q), Pittsburgh, PA. NR2 engine failed after takeoff. Returned and landed safely.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
