## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(.4) THE AIRPLANE CAME IN LOW DURING FINAL APPROACH TO LANDING. THE LEFT MAIN LANDING GEAR IMPACTED HAY BUNDLES AND SEPARATED FROM THE AIRPLANE. THE AIRPLANE LANDED ON THE RUNWAY AND DURING ROLLOUT, SKIDDED FOR APPROXIMATELY 200 TO 300 FT. THE LEFT WING CONTACTED THE GROUND AND THE AIRPLANE VEERED TO THE LEFT INTO THE GRASS, THEN COLLIDED WITH A DITCH. (-23) THE PILOT REPORTED THAT WHILE ON APPROACH TO RUNWAY 26 HE WAS TOO HIGH AND DID A GO AROUND. ON SECOND APPROACH HE WAS TOO LOW AND THE LEFT MAIN GEAR STRUCK A BALE OF HAY APROXIMATELY EIGHTY FEET SHORT OF THE RUNWAY. THE LEFT MAIN GEAR WAS TORN FROM THE AIRCRAFT. DURING TOUCHDOWN THE AIRCRAFT VEERED LEFT UNTO THE GRASS CAUSING DAMAGE TO HORIZONTAL STABILIZER AND ELEVATOR.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ATL00LA007](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ATL00LA007), Oct 24, 1999: Cessna 150F (N8865G), Arecibo, PR, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's failure to maintain altitude clearance during final approach to landing. A factor was the hay bundles.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
