## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON OCTOBER 27, 1999, ARICRAFT (N81023) CLEARED FOR TAKEOFF FROM RUNWAY 4L APPROXIMATELY 1045AM. THE STUDENT PILOT WAS AT THE CONTROLS, AS THE AIRCRAFT CLIMBED THROUGH ABOUT 150AGL THE ENGINE SUDDENLY LOST POWER, THE FLOGHT INSTRUCTOR TOOK OVER THE CONTROLS AND DECLARED AN EMERGENCY. THE ENGINE QUIT AND THE INSTRUCTOR LANDED THE AIRCRAFT SAFELY ON THE TAXIWAY BETWEEN RUNWAYS 4L AND 4R. UPON INSPECTION AFTER LANDING THE INSTRUCTOR NOTICED FUEL LEAKING OUT OF THE GASCOLATOR DRAIN VALVE, THE VALVE WAS STUCK IN THE DRAIN POSITION THE AIRCRAFT HAD NO OTHER APPARENT DAMAGE.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
