## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(.4)THE PILOT TOOK OFF FROM RUNWAY 16 AND LOST PARTIAL ENGINE POWER ON INITIAL CLIMB. THE PILOT DECIDED TO RETURN TO THE AIRPORT AND STALLED THE AIRPLANE DURING THE TURN. THE AIRPLANE SUBSEQUENTLY COLLIDED WITH TREES AND THEN THE GROUND OFF THE DEPARTURE END OF THE RUNWAY. EXAMINATION OF THE WRECKAGE REVEALED THAT THE AIRPLANE COLLIDED WITH THE GROUND IN A NOSE-LOW ATTITUDE. THE AIRPLANE WAS DESTROYED. A POST-ACCIDENT TEARDOWN EXAMINATION OF THE ENGINE REVEALED THAT AN EXHAUST VALVE WAS STUCK IN THE OPEN POSITION.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ATL00LA005](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ATL00LA005), Oct 29, 1999: Cessna 150F (N6444F), Bay Springs, MS, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's failure to maintain flying speed that resulted in a loss of control and stall. A factor was a stuck exhaust valve.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
