## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) ACTUAL AIRCRAFT REGISTRATION NUMBER IS JA8132 (FOREIGN). A CONSTRUCTION COMPANY WAS WORKING NEAR TAXIWAY CHARLIE AT THE SAN FRANCISCO AIRPORT. AIRFIELD OPERATIONS INSTRUCTED THE CONSTRUCTION CREW NOT TO GO BEYOND THE TRENCH THEY WERE WORKING ON, WHICH WOULD HAVE KEPT THEM CLEAR OF TAXIWAY CHARLIE. THE CREW OF JAPAN AIRLINES CARGO FLIGHT 6043, A FAR 129 OPERATION, WAS INSTRUCTED TO TAXI TO RW28R VIA TAXIWAYS SIERRA, CHARLIE AND HOLD SHORT OF RW10L. WHILE TAXIING DOWN TAXIWAY CHARLIE, AS INSTRUCTED, JAL FLIGHT 6043'S NUMBER ONE ENGINE STRUCK A FORKLIFT WHICH WAS PARKED TWEEN THE TRENCH AND THE TAXIWAY AND IN THE SAFETY AREA FOR SIERRA. THE DISTANCE FROM THE TAXIWAY CENTERLINE TO THE EQUIPMENT WAS PACED OFF AND IT WAS THE SAME AS THE DISTANCED FROM THE AIRCRAFT CENTERLINE TO THE NUMBER ONE ENGINE.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
