## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) PILOT DEPARTED VNY ENROUTE TO LAS, JUST AFTER LEVELING OFF AT 7500' AND MAKING A SMALL POWER ADJUSTMENT FOR CRUISE HE EXPERIENCED TOTAL POWER LOSS WITH SEVERE VIBRATION. HE SET UP A GLIDE TO PALMDALE AIRPORT AND LANDEED ON RUNWAY 25 WITHOUT FURTHER INCIDENT. ONCE OUT OF THE AIRCRAFT HE SAW LARGE AMOUNTS OF OIL ON THE RIGHT WING AND UNDER THE COWL. IT WAS LATER DETERMINED THAT THE #2 EXHAUST VALVE BROKE AND THE MAJORITY OF IT WAS SUCKED INTO THE CYLINDER. THE ENGINE SUSTAINED MAJOR DAMAGE INTERNALLY.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
