## Narrative

(-23) ACCORDING TO THE AIRCRAFT CAPTAIN, WHILE ON CRUISE DESCENT, AT APPROX. 5-15 MILES FROM ALTTA, AND AFTER BEING CLEARED FOR THE ILS AT FAT, THE FLIGHT CREW NOTICED THE RIGHT ENGINE OIL WARNING BEING DISPLAYED ON THE CENTRAL ANNUNCIATOR PANEL. IT WAS AT THAT TIME THE FLIGHT CREW REFERENCED THE OIL PRESSURE GAUGE FOR THE RIGHT ENGINE READING 30 PSI. THE FLIGHT CREW EXECUTED AN INFLIGHT SHUTDOWN. FURTHERMORE, ALL APPLICABLE AIRCRAFT CHECKLISTS WERE FOLLOWED AND AN EMERGENCY WAS DECLARED; FIRE TRUCKS WERE ON THE SCENE. THE FLIGHT CREW MADE THE NECESSARY RADIO COMMUNICATIONS, AS WELL AS INFORMING THE PASSENGERS. THE AIRCRAFT LANDED WITHOUT INCIDENT AND PROCEEDED TO TAXI TO THE GATE. THE LEFT ENGINE WAS THEN SHUT DOWN AND THE PASSENGERS WERE DEPLANED. UPON FURTHER INVESTIGATION AND TROUBLESHOOTING BY COMPANY MAINTENANCE PERSONNEL, IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT THE MECHANICAL PROBLEM WAS IDENTIFIED AS AN INOPERATIVE OIL SCAVENGE PUMP. ANOTHER SERVICEABLE ENGINE WAS INSTALLED ON THE SUBJECT AIRCRAFT. NO FURTHER PROBLEMS WERE NOTED.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
