## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) THE PILOT WAS ATTEMPTING TO LAND ON RUNWAY 18 WITH WINDS VARIABLE 240 TO 270 AT 15-16 KNOTS. THE PILOT ELECTED TO USE RUNWAY 18 BECAUSE IT IS APPROX. 1800 FT LONGER THAN RW27. HE CONFIGURED THE A/C WITH FLAPS AT 1/4 WHICH HE STATED IS THE CROSSWIND LANDING CONFIGURATION. UPON TOUCHDOWN HE FELT THE A/C TURN AS HE LOWERED THE TAIL. AT THIS TIME HE ATTEMPTED TO MAINTAIN DIRECTIONAL CONTROL BY APPLYING OPPOSITE AILERON AND RUDDER. THE A/C CONTINUED TO THE LEFT AND AS IT APPEARED TO DEPART THE RUNWAY, THE PILOT ATTEMPTED A GO AROUND. THE LEFT WING THEN CONTACTED THE GROUND AND BEGAN TO CARTWHEEL EVENTUALLY COMING TO REST APPROX. 300 FEET FROM THE RUNWAY WITH THE LANDING GEAR, ENGINE, AND NOSE SECTION REMOVED FROM THE A/C.

## NTSB investigation

None matched to this report by aircraft and date. Search the NTSB's own records: https://data.ntsb.gov/carol-main-public/basic-search

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
