## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) THE PILOT HAD DEPARTED FELTS FIELD, SPOKANE, WA (SFF) ENROUTE IFR TO BOISE, ID (BOI). AT 8,500, THE AIRCRAFT ENGINE BEGAN TO LOSE POWER. THE PILOT NOTIFIED ATC AT SPOKANE, (GEG) AND ADVISED THEM OF THE PROBLEM AND ASKED FOR A VECTOR TO THE NEAREST AIRPORT. A FEW MOMENTS LATER, THE ENGINE LOST ALL POWER AND THE PILOT DECLARED AN EMERGENCY. HE WAS VECTORED TO SPOKANE AND MANEUVERED THE AIRCRAFT UNTIL HE WAS ESTABLISHED ON THE LOCALIZER FOR RUNWAY 03. THE PILOT EXECUTED A DEAD-STICK APPROACH THRU THE OVERCAST, BROKE OUT AT APPROXIMATELY 800 FEET ONLY TO FIND THAT HE WOULD BE UNABLE TO MAKE IT TO THE RUNWAY OF INTENDED LANDING. AT THIS TIME, HE ELECTED TO ATTEMPT A LANDING ON A HARD SURFACE ROAD THAT IS TO THE RIGHT OF RUNWAY 03. HE AVOIDED NUMEROUS OBSTACLES TO INCLUDE VEHICLES, POWER POLES, POWER LINES, MAIL BOXES, AND BUILDINGS. WHEN THE LANDING WAS ASSURED, HE LOWERED THE LANDING GEAR AND LANDED THE AIRCRAFT ON A ROAD WITH NO DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT OR PROPERTY.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
