## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) INCIDENT #IGL190000006 AIRCRAFT WAS ENROUTE FROM OMAHA, NE TO PITTSFIELD, IL AND WAS NEARING QUINCY, IL WHEN THE ALTERNATOR LIGHT CAME ON. PILOT CONTINUED TO PITTSFILED WHERE HE TRIED TO EXTEND THE FLAPS. THE FLAPS MOVED SLIGHTLY THEN STOPPED. THE PILOT THEN SELECTED THE GEAR TO THE DOWN POSITION AND HEARD THE GEAR PARTIALLY EXTEND AND STOP. NOT KNOWING THE EXACT POSITION OF THE GEAR, HE TRIED TO CRANK THE GEAR DOWN. UPON FLARING FOR LANDING, THE AIRCRAFT SETTLED LOWER THAN EXPECTED, SO THE PILOT APPLIED POWER AND EXECUTED A GO-A-ROUND. HE ONCE AGAIN TRIED CRANKING THE GEAR, BUT NOW THE HANDLE WOULD NOT MOVE IN EITHER DIRECTION. THE PILOT THEN PERFORMED A GEAR UP LANDING. INVESTIGATION HAS NOT DISCLOSED A REASON FOR THE POWER FAILURE, BUT DID DISCLOSED THAT THE GEAR WAS FULLY UP WHEN THE AIRCRAFT LANDED. DAMAGE WAS LIMITED TO THE PROPELLER AND BELLY SKIN AND STEP. IN THE PILOT STATEMENT DATE 11/29/1999, THE PILOT DISCLOSED THAT HE MAY HAVE INADVERTENTLY CRANKED THE GEAR BACK UP INSTEAD OF DOWN. AN M OR D WILL BE ISSUED AS THE CAUSE OF THE ELECTRIAL FAILURE.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
