## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) THE AIRCRAFT'S LEFT MAIN GEAR DID NOT EXTEND. AFTER UNSUCCESSFULLY ATTEMPTING TO LOWER THE LEFT MAIN GEAR, THE PILOT, ^PRIVACY DATA OM^ LANDED THE AIRCRAFT ON THE RIGHT MAIN. THE PILOT UTILIZED DIFFERENTIAL POWER TO KEEP THE LEFT WING OFF OF THE RUNWAY AS LONG AS POSSIBLE. WHEN THE LEFT WING TOUCHED THE RUNWAY, THE PILOT PULLED BOTH ENGINES FUEL CUTOFF SWITCHES. THE AIRCRAFT SKIDDED OFF OF THE RUNWAY TO THE LEFT. THE AIRCRAFT SUSTAINED SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE. (.4)AFTER EXTENDING THE GEAR FOR LANDING, THE DOWN-AND-LOCKED INDICATION (GREEN LIGHT) FOR THE LEFT MAIN GEAR WAS NOT ILLUMINATED. THE CREW PERFORMED THE EMERGENCY CHECKLIST PROCEDURES FOR ABNORMAL GEAR EXTENSION WITH NO SUCCESS. THE AIRCRAFT SUBSEQUENTLY LANDED WITH THE LEFT MAIN LANDING GEAR RETRACTED. INSPECTION OF THE LANDING GEAR REVEALED THAT THE PIN (PART NUMBER MY20248-001), WHICH IS PART OF THE FORWARD GEAR DOOR LOCK, WAS CORRODED AND CRACKED AT THE POINT OF ROTATION, PREVENTING PROPER MOVEMENT OF THE GEAR DOOR UPLOCK.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB SEA00LA025](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/SEA00LA025), Nov 27, 1999: Dassault DA-20 (N216SA), Boise, ID, substantial damage. Probable cause: Failure of the forward gear door lock pin. An inoperative landing gear door and inadequate maintenance inspection of the aircraft were factors.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
