## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) ON FRIDAY, DECEMBER 3, 1999 AT 2304 EST, A DC-9-82 AIRCRAFT, OPERATED BY US FAIWAYS AS FLIGHT 1648 LANDED ON RUNWAY 23 AT BUFFALO, NEW YORK AFTER AN IN-FLIGHT SHUT-DOWN OF THE LEFT ENGINE DUE TO A THRUST REVERSER UNLOCK LIGHT ILLUMINATION. COMPANY MAINTENANCE PERSONNEL CHANGED THE ENGINE DUE TO A FRAGMENTED POWER TURBINE WHEEL. VISUAL METEOROLOGICAL CONDITIONS PREVAILED AND AN IFR FLIGHT PLAN HAD BEEN FILED. THE AIRCRAFT WAS NOT DAMAGED AND NO PERSON WAS INJURED. THE FLIGHT ORIGINATED AT PITTSBURGH, PA ON DECEMBER 3, 1999 AT 2220 HOURS. THIS INCIDENT IS CONSIDERED CLOSED.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
