## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(.4)THE PILOT MANEUVERED THE AIRPLANE TO AVOID TWO OR THREE DEER THAT ENTER THE RUNWAY FROM THE RIGHT WHILE HE WAS EXECUTING A TAKEOFF. (-23)AT APPROXIMATELY 600 TO 800 FEET INTO THE TAKEOFF ROLL ON RUNWAY 13, THE PILOT REPORTED THAT HE SAW TWO OR THREE DEER ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE RUNWAY. THE PILOT SAID HE TURNED THE AIRPLANE TO LEFT TO AVOID THE DEER. THE LEADING EDGE OF THE LEFT WING (AT THE POINT WHERE THE WING STRUT ATTACHES) STRUCK A TREE JUST OFF THE LEFT SIDE OF THE RUNWAY (1,056 FEET). AT THE POINT OF IMPACT, THE AIRPLANE HAD A HEADING OF ABOUT 100 DEGREES. THE AIRPLANE TRAVELLED APPROXIMATELY 190 FEET FARTHER (1,583) BEFORE COMING TO REST WITH THE NOSE POINTING TO ABOUT 195 DEGREES. THERE ARE AIRPLANES PARKED ALONG THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE RUNWAY IN THE AREA WHERE THE DEER WERE OBSERVED. THE RUNWAY IS GRASS AND APPROXIMATELY 2,200 FEET LONG. THE FIRST 500 FEET OF THE RUNWAY HAS A DOWN HILL SLOPE. THE FIELD ELEVATION IS 420 FEET MSL.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
