DURING A FAST TAXI RUN OR TAKE OFF ROLL THE NOSE GEAR DEVELOPED A SEVERE SHIMMY AT 40 MPH AND COLLAPSED. NO ACTION PLANNED AGAINST THE PILOT HOWEVER, INVESTIGATION INTO WHY THE NOSE GEAR COLLAPSED MAY WARRENT INVESTIGATION OF THE MECHANIC.
