## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) PILOT REPORTED THE ENGINE QUIT AND HE COULD NOT RESTART. PILOT LANDED IN A PASTURE, GOING THROUGH A BARB WIRE FENCE AND A LARGE POST. IN CHECKING AIRCRAFT AT SCENE, THE PROP COULD NOT BE PULLED THROUGH. THERE WAS NO DAMAGE TO PROP EXCEPT WIRE SCRATCHES. HEAVY DAMAGE TO WING, GEAR, AND REAR FUSELAGE.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB FTW00LA068](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/FTW00LA068), Jan 19, 2000: Mooney M20K (N1157G), Tyler, TX, substantial damage. Probable cause: The failure of the crankshaft drive gear as a result of fatigue, which resulted in a forced landing. A factor was the lack of suitable terrain for the forced landing.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
