## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) ON APRIL 18, 2000, AT APPROX. 7:45 PM, CDT, ON A IFR/VMC FLIGHT FROM PEORIA, IL. TO DECATUR, IL. THE A/C LANDED GEAR UP ON RUNWAY 18 AT DECATUR, IL. THE A/C SUFFERED SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE TO THE LOWER FUSELAGE. THE PILOT WAS THE SOLE OCCUPANT OF THE A/C AND REPORTED NO INJURIES. THE PILOT STATED THAT HE BELIEVED HE HAD SELECTED THE LANDING GEAR DOWN, HOWEVER, HE DID NOT CHECK TO VERIFY THE LANDING GEAR WAS DOWN AND LOCKED.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CHI00LA116](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CHI00LA116), Apr 19, 2000: Beech 58 (N9429Q), Decatur, IL, substantial damage. Probable cause: the failure of the pilot to extend the landing gear which resulted in the gear-up landing. A factor to the accident was the pilot's failure to complete the landing checklist.

## Other reports on N9429Q (1)

Matched to the same aircraft by N-number and date.

- [Incident 20091123051449I](https://openairdocs.org/incident/20091123051449I), Nov 23, 2009: Beech 58 (N9429Q), Stafford, VA, Minor damage. Airplane was flown IFR into the Stafford regional airport on the RNAV (GPS) rwy 33 arroach and landed with the gear not extended.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
