## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) THE PILOT/REPAIRMAN MADE ADJUSTMENTS TO THE PROPELLER BLADE ANGLES THE MORNING OF THE FATAL FLIGHT. TAKEOFF WAS FROM A ROUGH FIELD APPROXIMATELY 6 MILES SOUTH OF (GCC), GILLETTE CAMPBELL COUNTY AIRPORT. WITNESSES STATED THAT THE ENGINE SOUNDED AS IT WERE MISFIRING. THE INFLIGHT BREAKUP BEGAN AFTER APPROXIAMTELY ONE MILE OF TRAVEL OVER THE GROUND. ONE PROPELLER BALDE WAS FOUND APPROXIMATELY 200 YARDS FROM THE IMPACT POINT. OTHER PROPELLER BLADE PARTS WERE FOUND CLOSER TO THE IMPACT POINT. THE MAIN ROTOR BLADES HIT THE VERTICAL STABILIZER AND RUDDER BREAKING THEM OFF THE AIRCRAFT, LEAVING THE AIRCRAFT UNCONTROLLABLE. THE AICRAFT FIRST IMPACTED ON THE TAILWHEEL, THEN ROLLED ON TO ITS THE LEFT SIDE AND CAUGHT ON FIRE.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB DEN00LA079](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/DEN00LA079), Apr 30, 2000: Green GTX-SE-FI (N2411V), Gillette, WY, destroyed, 1 fatal. Probable cause: The pilot's abruptly pulling the nose up at an excessive airspeed, resulting in the rotor blades striking the vertical stabilizer and a subsequent loss of aircraft control.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
