## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) ON JUNE 6, 2000, N45880 WAS ATTEMPTING A LANDING AT GREENVILLE MAJORS AIRPORT, WHEN THE PILOT SUDDENLY LOST CONTROL OF THE AIRCRAFT. THE AIRCRAFT CAME TO REST ON THE WEST SIDE OF RUNWAY 35. THE PILOT STATED THAT THE LANDING WAS NORMAL UNTIL THE IARCRAFT SUDDENLY HEADED FOR THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE RUNWAY. HE THEN ADDED POWER AND LEFT RUDDER, AT WHICH TIME THE AIRCRAFT DARTED LEFT THEN CAME TO REST UPSIDE DOWN ON THE WEST SIDE. INVESTIGATION OF THE TIRE TRACKS ON THE RUNWAY REVEALED THAT THE LEFT TIRE TRACK SEEMED RELETAVELY STRAIGHT WHILE THE RIGHT TIRE TRACK MADE S-TURNS. UPON REMOVAL OF THE RIGHT MAIN LANDING GEAR FARING FROM THE AIRCRAFT, IT WAS DISCOVERED THA A BRACE ON TEH LANDIGN GEAR HAD FAILED, CAUSING THE MAIN LANDING GEAR LEG TO SHEAR AND THEREFORE LOSS OF CONTROL.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB FTW00LA174](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/FTW00LA174), Jun 6, 2000: Luscombe 8A (N45880), Greenville, TX, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's failure to maintain directional control during the landing roll, which resulted in an inadvertent ground loop.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
