## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23)ON SAID DATE, THE PILOT OF N3804L FLEW ACROSS COUNTRY FLIGHT FROM; FALLBROOK, CA TO YUMA, AZ. APPROXIMATELY 14 MILES FROM THE YUMA AIRPORT THE AIRCRAFT ENGINE BEGAN TO SPUTTER AND THEN FINALLY QUIT ABOUT 5 MILES AWAY FROM THE AIRPORT. THE AIRCRAFT DID NOT HAVE SUFFICIENT ALTITUDE TO GLIDE TO THE AIRPORT AND FORCE-LANDING IN A PLOWED FILED. INVESTIGATION OF THE INCIDENT REVEALED THAT THE PILOT DID NOT ALLOW FOR SUFFICIENT FUEL TO COMPLETE THE FLIGHT.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
