## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) ON JUNE 22, 2000 AT 1530 ADT. A FLOAT EQUIPPED AIRPLANE N495K SUSTAINED SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE DURING THE TAKEOFF RUN WHEN IT COLLIDED WITH A DEHAVILLAND DHC-2 FLOAT EQUIPPED AIRPLANE, N5221G TAXIING FROM LANDING ON BROOKS LAKE 27 MILES EAST OF KING SALMON, ALASKA AT 58 DEGREES NORTH 155 DEGREES 16 MINUTES WEST LONGITUDE. THE DEHAVILLAND PILOT SAID HE SAW THE CESSNA TAXIING. BELIEVED THAT THE CESSNA PILOT SAW THE DEHAVILLAND AND EXPECTED CESSNA WOULD PASS DOWN THE LEFT SIDE OF HIS AIRPLANE. THE DEHAVILLAND PILOT DESCRIBED THE CESSNA TURNING LEFT TOWARD HIS AIRPLANE, BEGINNING THE TAKEOFF RUN AND COLLIDED BEFORE HE (DEHAVILLAND) COULD MAKE AN EVASIVE MANEUVER. THE CESSNA PILOT SAID HE NEVER SAW THE DEHAVILLAND BEAVER IN THE SUN GLARE. AS THE CESSNA PILOT BEGAN HIS TAKEOFF RUN AND THE AIRPLANE WAS ABOUT TO COME ONTO THE STEP, THE RIGHT-FRONT SEAT PASSENGER WARNED THE PILOT OF THE DEHAVILLAND BEAVER. THE CESSNA PILOT SAID HE ATTEMPTED TO MANEUVER THE AIRCRAFT TO THE LEFT AND THE RIGHT WING STRUCK THE DEHAVILLAND WINDSHIELD.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ANC00LA074](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ANC00LA074), Jun 22, 2000: Cessna 206 (N495K), King Salmon, AK, substantial damage. Probable cause: The inadequate visual lookout by the pilot of the other airplane, and the inadequate radio traffic advisories by the pilots of both airplanes.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
