## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) PILOT EXPERIENCED TOTAL ELECTRICAL FAILURE ONBOARD A/C APPROX. 14 MILES NORTH OF THE KEY WEST INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT. HE ATTEMPTED TO MANUALLY EXTEND THE LANDING GEAR BUT WAS UNABLE TO GET IT TO LOCK INTO POSITION.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ATL00LA073](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ATL00LA073), Jun 24, 2000: Piper PA-30 (N8629Y), Key West, FL, substantial damage. Probable cause: A landing gear collapse resulting from the pilot's unsuccessful attempt to complete the manual gear extension due to physical strength overload. A factor was the complete electrical system failure…

## Other reports on N8629Y (1)

Matched to the same aircraft by N-number and date.

- [Incident 19900802049039I](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19900802049039I), Aug 2, 1990: Piper PA30 (N8629Y), Oshkosh, WI, Minor damage. Right engine fire on landing rollout. Closed fuel selector and fire quit. Fuel pump was leaking.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
