## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23)AIRCRAFT N73100, A CESSNA CE-207 DEPARTED DEADHORSE A1L AT APPROXIMATELY 1900AKDT. PILOT NOTICED THAT THE ENGINE BEGAN TO LEAK OIL AND TURNED AIRCRAFT BACK TOWARDS DEADHORSE AK. ONE MILE FROM THE AIRPORT THE OIL PRESSURE DROPPED AND THE ENGINE BEGAN TO OVERSPEED, THEN THE PROPELLER SEPARATED FROM THE AIRCRAFT. THE SEPARATION WAS CAUSED BY THE CRANSHAFT FAILING JUST AFT AT THE FLANGE. PILOT LANDED WITHOUT FURTHER INCIDENT.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ANC00IA083](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ANC00IA083), Jul 5, 2000: Cessna 207A (N73100), Deadhorse, AK, incident, minor damage. Probable cause: An in-flight fracture of the engine crankshaft propeller flange. A factor associated with the accident was the manufacturer's inadequate quality control standards.

## Other reports on N73100 (1)

- [Incident 19941026042649I](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19941026042649I), Oct 26, 1994: Cessna 207A (N73100), Atqasuk, AK, Minor damage. Reported approach VFR. Flew into fog bank. Failed watch altitude and flew into ground 17 miles short of airport.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
