## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23)RETURNING FROM BYRON AIRPORT, THE PILOT DECIDED TO TAKE THE OPPORTUNITY OF FLIGHT CHECK THE AUTO PILOT. LOCKING THE A/P ONTO THE ILS 27R OAK AND HIT TURBULENCE THAT DISENGAGED (IT CAME OUT OF CONTACT WITH REAR MOUNTING CAGE CIRCUIT CONNECTION). RE-ENGAGING THE A/P THE PILOT CENTERED ON THE GLIDE SLOPE AND LOCALIZER UNTIL THRESHOLD. AS HE FLARED FOR LANDING HE BECAME AWARE THAT HE WAS TO LOW FOR NOT HAVING MADE CONTACT WITH THE RUNWAY (FORGOT TO PUT LANDING GEAR IN THE DOWN POSITION). HE THEN TRIED TO KEEP THE AIRCRAFT OFF AS LONG AND AS SLOW AS POSSIBLE TO KEEP DAMAGE AT A MINIMUM.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
