## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) AG A/C LOST POWER WHILE WORKING A FIELD, PILOT TRYED TO LAND AT DUSTER STRIP SOUTH OF HIS POSITION BUT COULD NOT MAINTAIN ALTITUDE, HE THEN TRIED TO LAND ON DIRT ROAD BUT COULD NOT REACH IT. THE A/C HIT IN A RICE FIELD NEXT TO THE ROAD, A/C WENT OVER ON ITS BACK CAUSING SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB LAX00LA261](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/LAX00LA261), Jul 11, 2000: Grumman G-164A (N897X), Gridley, CA, substantial damage. Probable cause: A partial loss of engine power due to the failure of an exhaust valve during an aerial application flight.

## Other reports on N897X (1)

Matched to the same aircraft by N-number and date.

- [Accident 19760503013399A](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19760503013399A), May 3, 1976: Grumav G164A (N897X), Marysville, CA, Substantial damage

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
