## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) THE PIC STATED THAT WHILE ON APPROACH, HE THOUGHT THAT HE WAS COMING IN FOR A LANDING A LITTLE HIGH. HE STATED THAT HE REALIZED THAT THE GLIDER WAS NOT GOING TO TOUCH DOWN. HE FLEW TO THE END OF THE RUNWAY (TRAFFIC WAS NOT A FACTOR). HE PROCEEDED TO PULL THE NOSE UP TO DO A STEEP 180 RIGHT TURN. THEN HE PROCEEDED TO DO A 180 LEFT TURN AND FIGURED HE PULLED IT TOO TIGHT. HE THEN PULLED THE NOSE UP AND THE AIRCRAFT HIT THE GROUND.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB SEA00LA144](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/SEA00LA144), Jul 26, 2000: Eiriavion PIK 20E (N27RT), Hamilton, MT, destroyed. Probable cause: The pilot's entering an inadvertent stall condition during a high angle of bank turn (maneuvering), and the lack of adequate altitude in which to successfully recover before ground impact.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
