## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) THE A/C WAS BEING OPERATED UNDER PUBLIC USE BY THE U.S. FOREST SERVICE CONDUCTING A FIRE FIGHTING MISSION. HELICOPTER WAS GOING IN FOR A WATER DROP WHEN THE PILOT REPORTED A POP IN THE RIGHT ENGINE. THE FUEL PRESSURE DROPPED AND THE PILOT SHUT DOWN THE ENGINE. THE PILOT MADE A DESCENT BACK TO THE HELIPORT AND DROPPED THE LONG LINE AND BUCKET. HE THEN MADE AN UNEVENTFUL LANDING. THE ENGINE WAS REMOVED AND WAS SENT TO CONSOLIDATED HELIFLIGHT (STROUD,OK) FOR REPAIR AND DETERMINATION OF THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. OPERATOR STATED A M OR D WILL BE COMPLETED.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
