## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23)AIRCRAFT WAS APPLYING PENNCOZEB 75DF AND TOPSIN ON A FIELD CLOSE TO 1671 ELKTON ROAD, ELKTON, MI (NEAR BAD AXE, MI). AIRPORT OF OPERATION WAS BAD AXE. AIRCRAFT HAD MADE 4 PASSES ACCORDING TO WITNESSES WHEN HE CRASHED ABOUT STRAIGHT DOWN DURING A TURN. WITNESS STATED THE ENGINE (TURBINE) WAS MAKING POWER (BY THE SOUND) AND THE PILOT WAS IN AT LEAST A 60 DEGREE BANK. THE WITNESS STATED THE NOSE PITCHED UP AND THEN THE AIRCRAFT WENT STRAIGHT IN. THE WITNESS DID NOT KNOW IF THE AIRCRAFT ROLLED TO THE HIGH WING OR NOT. THE AIRCRAFT CAME IN AT A STEEP ENOUGH ANGLE THAT THE ENGINE WAS BURIED PAST THE ACCESSORIES. APPEARS TO BE AN STALL/SPIN ACCIDENT.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CHI00LA257](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CHI00LA257), Aug 14, 2000: Ayres S2R-600 (N3103B), Bad Axe, MI, destroyed, 1 fatal. Probable cause: The inadvertent stall/spin encountered by the pilot. A factor was the low altitude.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
