## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) THE PILOT FURNISHED THE FOLLOWING INFO: DURING CRUISE FLIGHT, THE ENGINE STARTED RUNNING ERRATICALLY AND CONTINUED TO WORSEN UNTIL THE ENGINE QUIT. AN EMERGENCY LANDING WAS MADE IN A GRASS FIELD. DURING THE LANDING ROLLOUT, THE NOSE WHEEL AND GEAR STRUCK A SOFT AREA UNDER IRRIGATION, BROKE THE NOSE GEAR FORK AND CAUSED THE A/C TO FLIP UPSIDE DOWN. THE PILOT HAD SOME MINOR BRUISES AND THE PASSENGERS WERE NOT INJURED. THE ENGINE CRANKSHAFT WAS FOUND BROKEN DURING THE INITIAL INVESTIGATION.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.
