## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) THE PILOT STATED HIS APPROACH TO RW 07 WAS TOO FAST AND HE LANDED LONG, ATTEMPTED TO STOP THE A/C ON THE RW BUT WAS UNABLE. HE APPLIED FULL POWER AND CLIMBED MAKING A RIGHT TURN TO TRY TO AVOID TERRAIN, THE STALL WARNING SOUNDED AND THE A/C CRASHED NOSE DOWN INTO TREES. THE AIRPLANE SHEARED OFF A TREE TOP AND SEVERAL BRANCHES AND CAME TO REST WEDGED IN A LARGE TREE, THE A/C WAS DESTROYED. THE PILOT SUSTAINED MINOR INJURIES AND THE PASSENGER SUSTAINED FATAL INJURIES.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB IAD00FA082](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/IAD00FA082), Sep 10, 2000: Grumman AA-5B (N28817), Carrollton, OH, substantial damage, 1 fatal. Probable cause: Pilot's improper decision to delay the aborted landing, which resulted in an insufficient airspeed during climb and subsequent collision with terrain. A factor was the wet runway and tailwind.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
