## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) STUDENT PILOT LOST CONTROL ON LANDING AT ARCO, IDAHO WHILE ON A SOLO CROSS COUNTRY TRAINING FLIGHT. WEATHER FORECAST WAS FOR CLEAR SKYS AND CALM WINDS. AS THE PILOT ARRIVED AT ARCO, HE CHECKED BOTH WIND SOCKS ON THE GROUND AND THE AWOS AT THE AIRPORT. EVERY SOURCE INDICATED THAT THE WIND WAS CALM. JUST BEFORE HE LANDED, A GUST OF WIND HIT THE A/C AND THE LEFT WING RAISED IN THE AIR. THE RIGHT WING STRUCK THE GROUND. THE A/C SWERVED OFF THE RUNWAY AND WENT THROUGH A DITCH WHERE IT NOSED OVER. THE PILOT WAS NOT INJURED.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB SEA00LA154](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/SEA00LA154), Sep 13, 2000: Cessna 120 (N2007V), Arco, ID, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's inadequate compensation for the wind condition. Wind gust was a factor.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
