## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) THE PILOT WAS OPERATING THE HELI IN FALLING SNOW WHEN THE ENGINE FAILED. HE MADE A DOWNWIND EMERGENCY LANDING FROM APPROXIMATELY 200 FEET. ON CONTACT WITH THE GROUND, THE HELI ROLLED OVER SUSTAINING SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE. THE HELI WAS OPERATED WITHOUT THE REQUIRED DEFLECTOR KIT INSTALLATION ON THE ENGINE INLETS WHICH IS REQUIRED DURING CONDITIONS OF FALLING/BLOWING SNOW.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB DEN00LA176](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/DEN00LA176), Sep 22, 2000: Bell 206B (N32FR), Rawlins, WY, substantial damage. Probable cause: The company dispatching, and the pilot initiating, flight into known adverse weather with an aircraft which did not have the required anti-ice equipment installed. A factor was snow conditions.

## Other reports on N32FR (1)

Matched to the same aircraft by N-number and date.

- [Accident 19960207001429A](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19960207001429A), Feb 7, 1996: Bell 206B (N32FR), Kemmerer, WY, Substantial damage. Dept inter 206B rolled over on takeoff from snow covered terrain. Snow displaced under a skid causing rollover.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
