## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) ON FRIDAY OCT 13, 2000 FLIGHT 7285 WAS DEPARTING SWF AND WAS GIVEN A CLEARANCE TO BACK TAXI ON RUNWAY 27, AS THE AIRCRAFT MADE A 180 TURN AT THE END OF THE RUNWAY THE NOSE GEAR WOULD NOT RETURN TO CENTER CAUSING THE AIRCRAFT TO ONLY TURN IN A CIRCLE. PASSENGERS WERE DEPLANED ON THE RUNWAY AND BUSSED TO THE TERMINAL. CONTRACT MAINTENANCE REMOVED THE AIRCRAFT FROM THE RUNWAY AND COMPANY MAINTENANCE FOUND MOISTURE AND ICE IN THE STEERING RACK. THE RACK WAS CLEANED AND RESEALED. THE AIRCRAFT WAS RETURNED TO SERVICE.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
