## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) MODIFICATION OF CABIN DOOR FOR SKYDIVING ACCOMPLISHED APPROX. 1 WEEK PRIOR. NEW LATCH MECHANISM WAS DIFFICULT TO OPERATE EACH TIME. PILOT WAS UNABLE TO SECURE DOOR LATCH, DOOR SHEARED AWAY FROM AIRCRAFT JUST BELOW HINGE POINT AND HIT RIGHT FLAP. PILOT WAS ABLE TO LAND AIRCRAFT WITHOUT INCIDENT. DOOR IS NOT RETRIEVEABLE. WORKMANSHIP OF DOOR INSTALLATION AND DESIGN OF MODIFICATIONS WILL BE INVESTIGATED. NOTE: THE INFORMATION REGARDING THE DOOR INSTALLATION HAS BEEN FORWARDED TO ^PRIVACY DATA ^ INSPECTOR AT ASO-FSDO-05, FOR INVESTIGATION.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
