## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) ON NOVEMBER 28, 2000, AT 1500 AK STANDARD TIME, CESSNA 180H, N8206V, SUSTAINED SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE WHILE TAXIING AFTER LANDING ON WALLACE LAKE, 1 MILE EAST OF WASILLA, AK. THE PILOT REPORTED THAT AFTER LANDING ON THE FROZEN LAKE AND TAXIING TOWARDS THE SHORE LINE, THE LEFT TIRE ROLLED OVER AN AREA OF GRASS PROTRUDING THROUGH THE ICE. AS THE TIRE PASSED OVER THE GRASS, IT BROKE THROUGH AND THE LEFT WING AND PROPELLER HIT THE ICE RESULTING IN SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE. THE PILOT REPORTED THAT HE DRILLED HOLES IN THE ICE PRIOR TO LANDING AND FOUND 8 TO 10 INCHES.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ANC01LA021](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ANC01LA021), Nov 28, 2000: Cessna 180H (N8206V), Wasilla, AK, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's selection of an unsuitable landing/taxi area. A factor associated with the accident was weak ice.
