## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) MR. YU HAD JUST COMPLETED SOME NIGHT TAKEOFFS AND LANDINGS AND WAS TAXIING IN TO PARK WHEN HIS RIGHT WING TIP STRUCK A PARKED FEDERAL EXPRESS TRUCK. HIS A/C, N8133C, A PA-28 RECEIVED SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE TO ITS RIGHT WING. MR YU STATED THAT HE WAS SOMEWHAT DISTRACTED BECAUSE HIS PASSENGER HE WAS PLANNING TO PICK UP WAS WALKING OUT TOWARD THE PLANE. HE SAID THAT WHEN HE NOTICED HIS CLOSE PROXIMITY TO THE PARKED TRUCK HE HIT HIS BRAKES, BUT WAS UNABLE TO STOP BEFORE MAKING CONTACT WITH THE TRUCK.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB SEA01LA056](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/SEA01LA056), Feb 25, 2001: Piper PA-28-181 (N8133C), North Bend, OR, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's failure to maintain clearance from the delivery truck while taxing. The pilot being distracted is a factor.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
