## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) AIRCRAFT WAS OPERATED UNDER LEASE FROM ALASKA AIRLINES. NOSE GEAR WOULD NOT RETRACT ON DEPARTIRE FROM PAFA. THE GEAR WAS LOWERED AND RESULTED IN THREE DOWN AND LOCKED INDICATIONS. CREW ELECTED TO ACCOMPLISH TWO LOW PASSES AT PAFA WITH MAINTENANCE OBSERVING FROM THE GROUND TO INSURE GEAR WAS SAFE. LANDING AT PAFA WAS UNEVENTFUL. NO EVACUATION WAS INITIATED AND NORMAL PASSENGER DEPLANING OCCURRED AT THE GATE. ALASKA AIRLINES MAINTENANCE PERSONNEL INSPECTED THE NOSE GEAR AND DETERMINED THAT THE STRUT WAS LOW. THE STRUT SCHRADER VALVE WAS REPLACED, THE STRUT WAS SERVICED WITH FLUID AND NITROGEN, RETRACTION AND FREEFALL TEST WERE ACCOMPLISHED AND THE AIRCRAFT WAS RETURNED TO SERVICE.

## Other reports on N740AS (1)

Matched to the same aircraft by N-number and date.

- [Incident 19810623048739I](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19810623048739I), Jun 23, 1981: Boeing 737290C (N740AS), Victoria, CN. Auto pilot malfunction caused violent pitch down at cruise. Passengers and cabin crew injured. Replaced connector.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
