## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) STUDENT PILOT LOST DIRECTIONAL CONTROL OF AIRPLANE, WHILE TAKING OFF ON RUNWAY 19, AT BARTOW COUNTY AIRPORT, IN CARTERSVILLE, GA. AIRPLANE DEPARTED THE RUNWAY, AT APPROX. 700 FET AND A 30 DEGREE ANGLE FROM RUNWAY HEADING, ROLLING 200 YDS BEFORE CRASHING INTO HEAVY BUSHES, AND SMALL TREES. WEATHER WAS CLEAR, AND THE WIND WAS VARIABLE FROM 250-270 AT 5/8 KNOTS. NO SKID MARKS, OR SIGNS OF BRAKING WERE VISIBLE, ON VERY LIGHT TRACK MARKS, LEFT BY THE AIRPLANE BEFORE IMPACT WITH THE BUSHES AND TREES. AIRCRAFT DAMAGE, SUBSTANTIAL, INJURIES OR FATALITIES, NONE. STUDENT PILOT WAS ONLY OCCUPANT IN AIRPLANE.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB MIA01LA095](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/MIA01LA095), Mar 8, 2001: Cessna 172R (N651MA), Cartersville, GA, substantial damage. Probable cause: the pilot's failure to maintain control of the airplane which resulted in the airplane veering off course and subsequent impact with trees.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
