(-23) ON MARCH 28, 2001, CESSNA 180, AIRCRAFT N91303, SUSTAINED SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE ON LANDING AT A REMOTE SITE 60 MILES WEST OF ILIAMNA, ALASKA. THE AIRCRAFT OPERATED FAR PART 91 WAS PILOTED BY OWNER ALBERT NOVAK. ON LANDING THE WHEEL/SKI-EQUIPPED AIRCRAFT (LANDING ON SNOW) STRUCK A DRY CLUMP OF DIRT, THAT IN TURN FAILED THE RIGHT LANDING GEAR; THIS ALSO DAMAGED THE RIGHT WING AND PROPELLER. THIS FLIGHT WAS CONDUCTED UNDER VFR FLIGHT RULES AND WEATHER WAS NOT A FACTOR. THE PILOT REPORTED THAT THE AIRCRAFT WAS OPERATING NORMALLY PRIOR TO THE ACCIDENT.
