## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) DURING AN AIRSHOW IN CHERRY POINT, NC, MR. KENNEDY WAS PARTICIPATING IN AN AERIAL DEMONSTRATION TEAM CALLED THE SWIFT MAGIC TEAM. MR. KENNEDY WAS FLYING IN FORMATION WITH TWO OTHER A/C PERFORMING LIGHT AEROBATICS DURING THEIR SHOW ROUTINE. MR. KENNEDY'S AIRCRAFT SUFFERED CATASTROPHIC ENGINE FAILURE AS A RESULT OF A PROP BLADE SEPARATION. MR. KENNENDY IMMEDIATELY LANDED THE AIRCRAFT ON THE RUNWAY DIRECTLY BELOW. THE ENGINE REMAINED WITH THE A/C EVEN THOUGH THE REMAINDER OF THE PROPELLER & HUB RIPPED PART OF THE CRANKSHAFT FROM THE ENGINE AND SHEARED ALL BUT ONE OF THE ENGINE ATTACH BOLTS.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ATL01LA043](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ATL01LA043), Apr 1, 2001: Globe GC1B (N78321), Cherry Point, NC, substantial damage. Probable cause: Fatigue cracking of the propeller hub that resulted in the in-flight separation of a propeller blade.

## Other reports on N78321 (1)

Matched to the same aircraft by N-number and date.

- [Accident 19940410010991A](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19940410010991A), Apr 10, 1994: Univac GC1B (N78321), Okeechobee, FL, Substantial damage. During practice aerobatic maneuvors collided with another swift N80949 doing same. Both landed safely.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
